If you created an Ancestry® account using Sign up with Apple and selected “Hide my Email,” your Ancestry account might be associated with a privaterelay.appleid.com email address. This email address was made for you by Apple and is connected to your Apple ID and Ancestry account.
There may be cases when you need to share this Apple email address with us (like resetting your password). There are a few ways to find this email address:
On Ancestry®
- If you can access your Ancestry account, go to Account settings (https://www.ancestry.com/account/). If prompted, sign in.
If you can’t access your account, follow the iPhone/iPad or Apple steps below.
- Under Account information, the email listed is your Apple Relay Email (or the email address associated with your Ancestry account).
On your iPhone or iPad:
- Open the Settings app.
- Select your name.
- Choose Sign in with Apple.
- Choose Ancestry.
- Under Hide My Email, you’ll see the Apple Relay Email.
On Apple
- Go to account.apple.com and sign in.
- Under your name, select Sign-In and Security.
- In the Sign in and Security options, choose Sign in with Apple.
- Choose Ancestry.
- Under Hide My Email, you’ll see the Apple Relay Email.
Frequently asked questions
Can I change the email address associated with my Ancestry account?
Yes. You can change your email address on Ancestry at any time by Updating Your Email Address.
Will changing my Ancestry email change my Apple email?
No. Changing your Ancestry email won’t change your Apple email.
Can I sign in to Ancestry using this email address?
Yes, but you must first create an Ancestry password. If you’ve created a password, you can sign in using your Apple Relay Email and your Ancestry password instead of using Sign in with Apple.
Can I disconnect my Ancestry account from Apple?
